Recommended Attractions in Xi’an: Shaanxi History Museum
The Shaanxi History Museum is incredibly large. Once you step inside, you’ll be able to feast your eyes on a large number of precious cultural relics. Thanks to its rich above – ground and underground cultural heritage, Shaanxi has developed a unique historical and cultural style. Visiting this museum is a must – do when you come to Shaanxi, as it allows you to feel the profound cultural heritage of this region.
The Shaanxi History Museum is an unmissable stop on your Xi’an tour. Inside the museum, apart from the free permanent exhibitions, there are two special thematic displays. One is the “Treasures of the Tang Dynasty – Exhibition of Cultural Relics Unearthed from the Hejiacun Hoard”, and the other is the “Tang Dynasty Murals Museum”. These two thematic exhibition halls require an entrance fee.
The “Treasures of the Tang Dynasty” exhibition is really worth visiting. Most of the exhibits here are precious relics from the Tang Dynasty unearthed from the Hejiacun Hoard. There are two exhibits in the world that are not allowed to be displayed abroad. One of them is the “Gilt Silver Ewer with Dancing Horse and Cup – Holding Design”. It’s so exquisitely crafted that you can almost see the lively dancing horses on it. Another remarkable item is the “Agate Cup with Animal Head”. Just looking at this beautiful wine – pouring vessel makes you want to have a drink right away!

- Business Hours: From 08:30 to 18:30, Tuesday to Sunday. Ticket sales stop at 16:39. Closed on Mondays.
