Detailed Experiences
Day 1
Mango Villa
The Mango Villa is a great choice for family stays. It’s close to the Guilin Impression Sanjie Liu Scenic Area. The rooms are decorated in a romantic and retro style, with old – fashioned items like alarm clocks and cassette tapes, which bring back childhood memories. The hotel also provides free herbal tea, afternoon tea, and midnight snacks. We even participated in a DIY activity of making Artemisia argyi cakes.
Yadi Cafe
This is a restaurant by the Li River. We ordered a lot of delicious food here. The seven – tenths cooked special steak with black pepper sauce was just perfect. The sole fish steak was also a hit among us, especially for the kids and the elderly as it has no bones. The Hawaiian pizza was a pleasant surprise, with its thin and crispy crust.
Yangshuo West Street
At night, West Street is full of lights and various kinds of food. You can buy affordable and beautiful Hanfu clothes and accessories here. There are also many local specialties, such as Yangshuo beer fish, snail stuffed with meat, and Guilin rice noodles.
An’an Music Bar
This bar has a quiet and cozy environment. We ordered some low – alcohol cocktails and let the kids experience the bar culture. The piano – themed wall in the bar is very interesting, and the kids loved it.
Day 2
Ten – Mile Gallery Cycling
Renting electric bikes is a great way to explore the Ten – Mile Gallery. You can stop at any time to enjoy the scenery. The best viewing point is near the Yulong River, where you can take a bamboo raft ride.
Xiaonanguo Restaurant
The dishes in this restaurant are a combination of local and Shanghai flavors. The Lipu taro and pork belly are very delicious. The taro absorbs the fat from the pork, making the pork belly fat – free and melts in the mouth. The Gongcheng oil – tea is also a must – try, with a unique taste after adding crispy peanuts.
Guilin Impression Sanjie Liu
This is a must – see show. The huge statue of the song fairy at the entrance is very eye – catching. The show uses advanced technology and a large number of actors to present the history and culture of Guilin. The scenes of the earthquake and the appearance of Liu Sanjie are really unforgettable. There are also many other attractions in the scenic area, such as the God of Wealth Temple, the Song Fairy Temple, and the Jingwangfu City Gate Tower.
Fisherman’s Beer Fish Restaurant
This is a 15 – year – old brand. We ordered many dishes here, such as the beer Li River sword – bone fish, which has a strong flavor of chili and tomato. The fisherman’s special wild duck is also very tasty, with small and flavorful pieces of meat. The pineapple sweet – and – sour pork was ordered for my father, and he really enjoyed it.
Ming Thai Bar
The bar has a romantic atmosphere with a great view of West Street. You can enjoy the sunset and the night view while sipping cocktails. It’s a great place for couples or friends to chat.
Day 3
Qingjiangdu Ecological Farm
This is a hidden gem. The air here is fresh, and the scenery is beautiful. You can pick eggs in the chicken farm and vegetables in the garden. The outdoor playground in the mountains and by the lake is very popular among kids. The spring – water chicken is the highlight of the farm. The chicken is free – range and only eats corn and insects. The simple way of cooking it with mountain spring water makes the chicken and the soup extremely delicious.
Xingping Ancient Town
The town is full of ancient charm. There are no commercialized bars, and the local handicrafts are very unique. You can visit the Wusheng Palace Ancient Stage, where you can see the costumes and props for Chinese opera. Taking a bamboo raft on the Li River is also a great experience.
Yuanzhiwei Restaurant
The snail stuffed with meat here is a classic. It takes a lot of effort to make, but the taste is really worth it. The bamboo – tube chicken is also very delicious, with the fragrance of the bamboo seeping into the chicken.
Day 4
Yellow Cloth Reflection
Cycling to the Yellow Cloth Reflection is a great way to end the trip. The morning mist on the mountains makes the scenery look like a painting. You can take your time to enjoy the beautiful view and take some great photos.
