A Memorable 4 – day Trip to Sanya with Family
Hey there, foreign friends! In June 2020, I embarked on a 4 – day trip to Sanya with my family, especially my kids. The per – person cost was around 2000 yuan, and it was an amazing journey full of delicious food, great photos, and a free – spirited travel style.
Accommodation Selection
Sanya is a place with numerous luxury hotels and charming B&Bs. It was really hard to choose. First, I picked a B&B in Bohou Village, Yalong Bay. The price per person was less than 200 yuan. Before I arrived, I saw some pictures of it and was attracted by its clean and fresh style.
When I made the reservation, I knew it was very popular. But I didn’t expect it to be a place where you could easily bump into stars! It seemed that all the internet – famous girls in the country came here to take pictures. Every guest in the store was a beauty. No wonder movie crews also chose this place, as it’s so photogenic!
The poolside rooms are really convenient, as you can step out of your room and reach the swimming pool right away. For the first time, I could watch my kids swimming without having to go outside. The transparent glass pool on the side is also a great spot for taking photos. The rooms are spacious, the bedding is comfortable, and the decoration style is simple and modern with smart home facilities, which is very suitable for young people.
This B&B area has many renovated B&Bs, which are concentrated here. It’s very convenient for daily life and is close to the beach. The scenery in the village is perfect for taking pictures. It only takes a five – minute drive to reach the Outlets in No.1 Town, where you can eat and shop easily. The trees on both sides of Yalong Bay Road at the entrance are lush and extremely beautiful! Don’t miss the transparent glass pool. Try underwater photography here; it’s guaranteed to make your friends on social media jealous.
Another hotel I chose was the Dajingjing Sanya Ocean Exploration World Hotel. It’s a great value for money, with a per – person cost of around 200 yuan. It’s a parent – child hotel that combines an aquarium, dining, and entertainment. There are various activities in the hotel. I had my first experience of feeding little penguins and flower whales and got to have close contact with many marine creatures. During the epidemic, only one restaurant was open, but it didn’t affect the food experience. The teppanyaki and Japanese cuisine were super delicious, and the chef lady was very kind and asked us about the taste. The swimming pool and snorkeling pool are semi – indoor, so you won’t get sunburned. You can have an unforgettable holiday without leaving the hotel.
The hotel is only a ten – minute walk from the beach. It’s located in Yazhou District, which is a bit remote, but the hotel’s internal facilities are very rich. You can take a 15 – minute taxi ride to visit the Dadonghai and Xiaodonghai Scenic Area.
Special Experiences
The most special experience this time was taking my kids to feed penguins and flower whales at the Dajingjing Ocean Exploration World. Since we couldn’t go diving in Southeast Asia, this was a great way to get close to the little animals. You need to make an appointment in advance for swimming with the flower whales and feeding the penguins, and go through disinfection procedures. The staff will explain the precautions. There’s also a snorkeling pool where you can see manta rays and groups of tropical fish. If you don’t want to get into the water, you can rent a popular glass boat and row to the middle to watch the fish.
There’s a bubble fight activity in the hotel every afternoon, which kids really love. The Dadonghai and Xiaodonghai Scenic Area near the Dajingjing Hotel is a well – known internet – famous photo spot. They hold a photography art season every year, and many locals choose to take their wedding photos here. You’ll often feel like you’re in a foreign country.
When you’re at the beach, how can you not go out to sea? You can charter a yacht at the famous Haitian Sheng筵 Yacht Pier. Besides taking pictures, fishing, snorkeling, and playing water sports are also great ways to relax. If there are 6 – 8 people, it’s recommended to charter a yacht costing over 1000 yuan. It’s spacious and comfortable to sit in, and looks great in photos.
Delicious Food
I’d like to recommend four restaurants for you to choose from according to your taste.
Linjie Fragrant Seafood: It’s the best seafood processing restaurant in Yalong Bay. The restaurant is located in the Outlets Seafood Square, which has many restaurants and brand stores. We drove from Jiuyue and it took less than 10 minutes. Parking at the Outlets is free, and there are many parking spaces. The environment is great, and the restrooms in the mall are very clean. The store is decorated with small lights, creating a dreamy atmosphere. It’s quite large and can accommodate about a hundred people. The seafood market has all kinds of strange fish, which immediately attracted the kids from inland areas. You can pick the seafood you want to eat by yourself.
The popularity of Linjie Fragrant Seafood indicates its good taste. Our big family ordered two kinds of fish, and they were both delicious. The grouper was almost eaten up, and there were hardly any bones left. The braised pomfret was fresh and not fishy at all. The conch was cleaned very well, without any sand. We also tried a special kind of bean in Hainan called four – cornered bean, and the coconut rice was sweet, soft, and very suitable for kids. To cater to the kids, some dishes were made with garlic and some with chili. The crabs and lobsters were a bit spicy, but young people would definitely like them. The waiters were very observant. They provided whatever we needed without us having to say much and cleared the trash several times. It’s really a well – run old store with a standardized service process.
Dayueyang Ocean Restaurant (No.1 Harbor City Branch): As soon as you step into the sightseeing elevator, you’ll be amazed by the beautiful view. The bay night view from the restaurant’s scenic seats upstairs is even more magnificent. Facing the sea, the restaurant mainly offers seafood, which is, of course, very fresh. The crabs were kicking their little legs. I even tried a starfish for the first time. There are three kinds of soup bases: fish maw chicken soup base, coconut chicken soup base, and Zaobacu (slightly spicy). They are all small pots, so if there are many people, you can try each one. The abalone and various seafood are unlimited. There’s a freezer full of different drinks, and the bar provides various mixed drinks, wines, and fresh – squeezed juices. You can enjoy the scenery while savoring the delicious food here. Remember to make an early reservation for the seats with a view of Dadonghai!
There’s also a creative cuisine restaurant called “Slightly Show” in Sanya Bay. I searched for it when I passed by and the reviews were very good. Dishes like Surfing Snowflake Wagyu, Creative Lychee Shrimp Balls, Crispy Coral Corn Kernels, and Avocado Mustard Shrimp Balls in a Japanese – style will shock you as soon as they are served. Even if you’ve traveled far and wide and tasted all kinds of flavors, this meal will stay in your memory for a long time. The restaurant has a Chinese – Western combined decoration style, which can meet the different needs of many people. It’s a great place for banquets and gatherings.
